Kim Turner's Other Published Work

Kim, it's so great to have you on The Wylder West blog this week! Thank you for joining us!

We've heard a bit about Christmas in the Wylder County Jail and I think it's fair to say you've got most of us completely intrigued! This one is definitely going on my must-read list.

Do you have any other published work?

Deuces Wyld

Dalton Payne has put the past behind him and returned home to Wylder. When a wash-woman accidentally dumps dirty water across his boots, he is intrigued by the amber-eyed beauty dressed in baggy clothing and a floppy hat. Before long, he can’t keep the loud mouthed tomboy out of his head. Falling for Leona is easy but teaching her to be a lady may be the biggest gamble of his life

Leona Fabray spends her days at the boiling pots in Wylder doing the town's wash. But when a famous gambler takes an interest in teaching her to act like a lady, she is sure she is being played a fool. That is until a single kiss by the handsome Dalton Payne sparks the possibility of a full house forever.

Excerpt:

“Gambler....you ain't funnin' me?” She couldn’t wear a skirt working the pots all day but what was he saying? He had to be making lite of her, didn't he? Most men never paid her any attention at all, so why was he?  “No, I'm not funning you, Leona, not even a little.” His green eyes held her and he sat close to her on the bed once more. “Damn it…didn’t plan on this, but…”

The impact of Dalton’s soft lips found her own. She didn’t move, a shudder running through her entire body as he held the kiss for a long moment, tasting her lips and then parting her mouth to open. His lips were warm and soft, though his beard tickled as he urged her lips to part.

A slight sigh escaped her as if his mouth drew it from the depths of her, but she allowed it. He teased her with his tongue, kissing her with a passion she wasn’t sure she understood.

“Does that answer your question?” He asked, his hands resting on her sides. “I’ve sat here watching you these couple of nights…not sure what the hell I’m doing but I won’t tell you I haven’t wanted to do that.”

“Gambler?” She whispered at his tender words, shocked at the depth of the kiss she hadn’t expected. “I ain't ever been kissed till now.”

He gave her a soft smile, playing his hand in her hair. “Well, then maybe it’s time. I don’t know Leona, my thoughts here, been caring for you and all. You know I came back here to make life simple, work the homestead. But having you here, besides your injuries, well…I like it. I like it a lot. I know it doesn’t make much sense at all. I’m nearing forty, had a number of women in my life over the years, none that ever turned my head twice, but you…only you, Leona.”

Wylder Hearts

Caleb Holt is the man to see for a good horse. Abuse an animal and he'll teach the lesson that goes with it. When he lands on top of a woman in the midst of a brawl and snags a passionate kiss, he sparks a fire he never expected. But it doesn't take the cowboy long to learn a lesson of his own… sometimes love comes with a price.

Seamstress Laurel Adams is embarrassed by Caleb's stolen kiss. Though she is determined to raise her son alone, she wonders at the ease of falling for the handsome horseman. But when the husband who abandoned her returns, there is only one choice to make—the one that breaks her heart into tiny pieces.

Excerpt:

The businessman bolted forward and swung a fist that made contact with his chin, leaving him off balance and staggering backward. Trying to avoid the crowd that had collected, he bobbled and went down, expecting to hit the ground. But the impact never came.

Instead he landed softly to a shrill feminine scream, and the greenest eyes he’d ever beheld. Time simply froze, the world around him a haze as he found himself mesmerized by the beauty of the woman beneath him. It had been a damn long time since he was in such a position as this.

Unable to move with the crowd about them, he apologized, allowing a slight smile to curl his lips, though he knew he should get back to the fight.

He reached to tip his hat and realized he’d lost it. The feel of her bosom pressed between them stirred up a thing or two. “Beggin’ your pardon, ma’am.”

“I’m quite all right.” She pushed to rise, but the crowd surrounding them was thick.

“Actually, I was apologizing for this.” Caleb bent to kiss her, slow and searing, her lips plump and tender, holding him there a moment longer than needed. He held her surprised green-eyed gaze a moment more and then he was back to the fight.

All But the Fall

She’s running from the past…He’s running to her…

Stunt man Aaron Decker has his hands full raising his daughter, running his ranch and jumping horses for a living. The new job on the set of a western has its perks, being close to home and offering him a sizeable paycheck. But what he doesn’t expect is to fall hard for beautiful nurse consultant, Jenna Wilder.

Putting a violent marriage behind her, Jenna Wilder is raising her son, writing scripts once more and has sworn off ever falling in love again. So why can’t she keep her mind off the soft-spoken stuntman? With Aaron, she dreams of a life she thought wasn’t possible.

But when Jenna’s past returns, Aaron must gain her trust to free her from the grips of her ex-husband’s vengeance. And no matter the risk, he will stop at nothing to protect the woman who holds his heart.

Excerpt:

It had been a long time since a woman had caught his attention to this extent. Nope, he’d never had anyone, even Pamela come this close.

Something about the chemistry between them was stronger than he’d ever known could exist. She was consuming him fast, and he damn well liked it. Last night after checking on the horses, Jenna had driven them to a local diner for supper. The meal had been fine, but he’d caught himself watching her every move as if he could etch a bit of her into his mind and heart. Yep, he had it bad.       And watching her drive away opposite his direction for home had left him all but empty. The good thing was she hadn’t run again from his touch, but it was hard to judge where the boundaries were with her. What he really wanted was no limits— holy damn, she was beautiful inside and out, and he had a few ideas about how much he’d like to discover even more.

And while she’d told him of her past, which was pretty trusting, he had to wonder if there was indeed more. Someone somewhere had broken this beautiful creature, and if he had his way, he’d bring her back and hang on tightly for the rest of his life—if she’d have him.
